"Accepting oneself does not preclude an attempt to become better."
I think the way to becoming better is to know and accept where you are now so that you can know where you can become better. And it gives you the courage to get out of your comfort zone to grow and be better!
All the quotes are good.

“Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win,
by fearing to attempt.”

Years back, Ruth, you shared the song ‘Fear is a Liar’ with me. This quote by William Shakespeare reminds me of that song. It’s been easy for me to let doubt and fear hold me back from dreams and goals that I’d like to achieve on all different levels.

I like the idea of thinking of our doubts as a traitor to our potential. It gives the motivation to ignore doubts and push forward and choose growth.

It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who
you think you're not.
It’s been years of trying to erase others negative shared opinions.
I do believe Our mind is soo powerful-your words today are amazing. Thank you.

It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who
you think you're not. Huge! Negative self talk has always been an issue for me. It has held me back from believing in myself and hurt my confidence. This is something I am still working on. I loved today’s video talk. Thank you!

Thank you for this day! I was super tempted to just say “I’m good” for this challenge! I’m glad I stuck the pen to paper. I put it in my gratitude journal for my children to read one day. What a powerful exercise. I also love the quotes shared. Especially the one about choosing immobility as a source of transportation. 🤯

I needed this message today. I needed the encouragement. For some reason I am holding myself back lately.

It’s not who you are that hold you back…… it’s who you think you are not.
2024 is about showing my family and myself how powerful life is. I have so many tools to share with my kids and need to stop limiting the negative beliefs!

Our doubts are traitors-Shakespeare.
Doubts, fear, and anxiety can hold me back. But then what good will I accomplish?

The moment you doubt whether you can fly!!!! I know when I do this it hits so true for me, but I tell myself I am going to do it or I can do it, it's a whole nother ball game!!!

The second one, "It's not who.you are that holds you back. It's who.you think you are."we are our own worst critics. Sometimes we put barriers in front of us and that don't need to be there, we get in our own way. Very nice quote to reflect on

"It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not" negative self talk is paralyzing. Feeling like you aren't really who you are presenting to the world is a confidence killer

The first part of "To choose doubt as a philosophy of life…" resonates with me this morning. I have often told my students that life is filled with choices. Good or bad, we internalize the consequences of our choices which influence who we are. In focusing on serving others without feeding ourselves we inadvertently choose self destruction.

Heather stated, "Doubts, fear, and anxiety can hold me back. But what good will I accomplish?" So very true. My focus will be to see the positive in me, acknowledge my areas that need change, and be thankful for opportunities to choose that change is positive no matter how it is initially perceived.

I definitely resonate with Hanoch McCarty's quote. Have been working at overcoming the thought of not being enough, etc. and realizing that I am the only one that has ever held me back! My favorite is J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan quote because I love magic and fairy tales :)
And thank you so much for the beautiful lesson today!!

The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able
to do it.
~ J.M. Barrie, author of "Peter Pan"

The mind is our most powerful tool that can either work for us or against us. Sometimes the doubt (fear of the unknown or the fear of failure)keeps us from venturing out to challenges that help us grow. We all have choices but doubting our potential limits those choices. I always think we need to be believe we can be our own heroes in our lives and remember the sky is the limit and if we just try, you might be surprised 🙏💜

Well first I love all the quotes as they all hit slightly different and I collect quotes. The doubt philosophy one is hitting hard for myself today as I have constantly doubted myself. Than adding the comment about transportation as my mother suffered an immobilizing stroke when I was in middle school she always wanted to go places and never let her appearance or inability stop her. She lived a basically happy life until she passed a few years ago - basically 30 years after first stroke. My motivation to a healthier lifestyle seeing how she lived.

I love all of these quotes, but "The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it." is my favorite of the bunch.

Day 4 is going well so far. I haven't quite figured out where to leave my bottle of Balance. I previously left it downstairs since I use it throughout the day, but now that I'm applying it first thing in the morning, and before I go to bed, I keep leaving it upstairs. I guess this means I need to pick up a second bottle and have one in each location.

Day 4 has been great! I think I've hit my stride and I am excited to keep going and crush it this month :).

The quote that resonated with me is "Accepting oneself does not preclude an attempt to become better" since the first step to becoming better (healthier and healing) is to accept where you've been and where you are. I think that acceptance is only a step on the journey so it would be tragic to stop there.

Flannery O'Connor's quote most resonates with me today. "Accepting oneself does not preclude an attempt to become better." You can remain open to bettering yourself while still loving who you are. Accept yourself, but expect more from yourself.

Yann Martel's quote is my favorite. "To choose doubt as a philosophy of life is akin to choosing immobility as a means of transportation." Doubt paralyzes us and prevents us from moving forward.
